First Day So Far

So today we landed at about 8:00 local time. The flight was easy - I passed out for most of it. I guess Evan (my friend from DePaul who came with) couldn't sleep a wink. The flight wasn't full so we were able to sit together which was great.

We took a bus to city center which is about four or five blocks from our hostel. It's poring outside, so everything is wet but ehh such is life ~ and I guess will be until we are state side again.

The Hostel is great. Its an old wine cellar so everything is old stone and wood. Lots of young people about our age and it seems really clean and nice. There are three other girls from our program already here so we're going to try and hook up with them later. First though a nap is required. We can't get into our rooms for a few more hours so we're still chilling out. The coffee here has nursed back so some semblance of life. This being said, the 8 hour flight was nothing compared to the 24 hours it took me to get to Kayole last summer so it's great in that respect.

Hope all is well

Glad you made it with few problems. Get some rest. You don't have to do everything the first day.

Miss you already

Will:

The hurling championships? Cork vs Kerry? I'm having flashbacks. If you run into the bagpipe player that leads the march for Cork, he's an old pal of your Uncle Dan and mine from 20 yrs ago. He may have passed the mantle to his son by now. The O'Flaherty brothers, whose mother runs Dirty Nellies Pub, were quite taken with your mother and aunt.

Pub grub's the best. You can survive on the brown bread alone. Don't forget to try the plaice. It's the best fish I've ever had--including LRI.

I'm at work listening to Stan Freburg. "We going out on that joke? No, we do reprise of song, that help. But not much...no"

Love you
Dad

Hi Will,

It's your good "old" babysitter! Your mom told me that you're off in Ireland on an adventure. How awesome!! I'm sure you'll have a blast, as I did when I backpacked Europe (blank) years ago! Savor every moment as I'm sure you'll make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime! So glad that I'll get to read about what you're up to on this blog. Beware the Australian girls you meet at the hostel - they can be pretty nutty! :)

So proud of you!

Yvonne
